Sky Arts on päättänyt hyllyttää etukäteen kohua aiheuttaneen Urban Myths: A Brand New Collection of TV Comedies –sarjan osan, jossa Joseph Fiennes esittää Michael Jacksonia.
Edesmenneen popin kuninkaan tytär Paris paheksui ohjelman traileria loukkaavaksi ja epäkunnioittavaksi.
Urban Myths: A Brand New Collection of TV Comedies on kahdeksanosainen sarja, jossa käydään läpi julkimoiden huhuttua elämää. Kohua aiheuttaneen jakson nimi on ”Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon” eli jaksossa nähdään Jacksonin lisäksi Elizabeth Taylorin ja Marlon Brandon hahmot. Tarinassa kolmikko taittaa matkaa autolla vuoden 2001 terroristi-iskujen jälkimainingeissa.
Sky Arts myöntää hyllytyspäätöksen johtuneen Jacksonin perheen esittämästä negatiivisesta palautteesta.
”We have taken the decision not to broadcast ‘Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon,’ a 30 minute episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series. This decision was taken in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family. We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events & never intended to cause any offense. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision”.
