Aviopari putosi kuolemaan selfietä ottaessaan – suosittu näköalapaikka vaatinut lukuisten hengen

Intialainen Vishnu Viswanath ja hänen vaimonsa Meenakshi Moorthy putosivat kuolemaan ottaessaan selfie-kuvaa suositulta Taft Pointilta, uutistoimisto AP kertoo,

Taft Point on noin 900 metrin korkeudella laakson pohjasta. Se sijaitsee Yosemiten puistossa Kaliforniassa.

Uutistoimisto AP:n mukaan matkablogia ylläpitänyt pariskunta oli asettanut kamerajalustan lähelle rotkon reunaa. Kamera ja jalusta löytyivät seuraavana aamuna samalta paikalta. Kolmekymppisen avioparin ruumiit löytyivät seuraavana päivänä 235 metriä alempaa.

Yli kymmenen ihmistä on menettänyt henkensä Yosemiten puistossa tänä vuonna.

Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care-lehdessa arvioitiin hiljattain, että 259 ihmistä on kuollut selfie-kuvia ottaessaan lokakuun 2011 ja marraskuun 2017 välisenä aikana. Raportti perustuu kansainvälisistä tiedotusvälineistä kerättyihin tietoihin.
