Brittiläisestä Chas & Dave -rockyhtyeestä maineeseen noussut Chas Hodges on kuollut 74-vuotiaana, kertoo BBC.
Yhtye tiedotti Twitter-sivuillaan, että Hodgesilla todettiin hiljattain ruokatorven syöpä ja hän menehtyi varhain lauantaina.
Hodges oli perustamassa Chas & Dave -rockduoa David Peacockin kanssa vuonna 1974. Yhtye nautti suurinta suosiota 80-luvulla. Pub rock -tyylistä musiikkia soittaneen kokoonpanon tunnetuimpia hittejä ovat Gertcha, Rabbit ja Snooker Loopy.
Chas & Dave levytti useita kannatuslauluja jalkapalloseura Tottenham Hotspur FC:lle.
Ennen yhtyeen perustamista Hodges sai opetusta pianonsoittoon Jerry Lee Lewisilta eräällä risteilyllä. Hänen muusikkoystäviin lukeutui myös Deep Purple -legenda Richie Blackmore.
